POWERGRID felicitates Kargil war heroes on Kargil Vijay Diwas

JAMMU, July 27: In a solemn ceremony held at its Regional office, Jammu, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas with deep reverence and gratitude towards the valiant soldiers who fought in the Kargil War of 1999. The event, held on July 26th annually to commemorate Operation Vijay's victory, was attended by Senior Officers, employees, and Executive Director of Northern Region-II, Rajesh Kumar.
During the heartfelt ceremony, homage was paid to the brave Indian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the nation's honor during the intense three-month-long Kargil War. Six Kargil War Heroes, currently serving in the security contract of POWERGRID, were felicitated for their exceptional bravery and dedication on this auspicious occasion. These heroes shared their life-time experiences during the war, leaving the audience captivated and applauding their courage.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Rajesh Kumar underscored the pivotal role played by the Indian Armed Forces in safeguarding the nation and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. He highlighted the significance of the Kargil War victory as a monumental moment in India's history and expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of all Indians towards the Kargil War Heroes for their selfless sacrifices and service.
The ceremony concluded with a moving tribute, as all POWERGRID employees, led by Sh. Rajesh Kumar, saluted the Kargil War Heroes. As a token of respect and gratitude, mementos were presented to the brave soldiers, acknowledging their extraordinary contributions to the nation.
POWERGRID, a Maharatna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, plays a crucial role in inter-state bulk power transmission. The Northern Region-II of POWERGRID, headquartered in Jammu, oversees the transmission system spanning across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana and UT of Chandigarh, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir. The corporation's consistent excellent performance and commitment to maintaining the transmission system's availability above 99% have earned accolades and appreciation from the Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Kargil Vijay Diwas at POWERGRID became an occasion of not only honoring the heroes of the past but also celebrating the spirit of unity and patriotism that drives the nation forward.
