KVK promotes natural farming | | | Early Times Report REASI, Aug 1: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu (SKUAST-J) is promoting and educating the farmers on natural farming practices under the dynamic stewardship of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.BN Tripathi and able guidance of Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. Sr. Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal said that Reasi district of J&K has an immense potential in natural farming and many farmers are showing keen interest in the adoption of natural farming as already they are utilizing most of the inputs for farming from their own fields. He said that natural farming is a promising means of reducing the dependence of farmers on external inputs, reducing the cost of cultivation and increasing the income of the farmers. He narrated that by the adoption of natural farming farmers can enhance their farm income with the minimum or no input cost. He said that the KVK is imparting skills on natural farming to the farmers and KVK scientists are demonstrating the practices in the practices in the formulation of Jeevamrit, Beejamrit, Panchgavya, fermented butter milk and also guiding them on the practices of mulching and Acchadana required for the natural farming. He stressed on the cultivation of millets being less input driven crops under natural farming. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist said that KVK is emphasizing on the production of quality and safe food by guiding the farmers on natural farming. He expressed that for a healthy society, quality and nutritious food is required and natural farming can play the significant role in the production of quality food. He informed that natural farming is beneficial for the improvement of soil health, human health and balanced ecosystem. |
