Former Minister Sadhotra accuses BJP of inflicting misery on last person in society | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 2: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader, Mr. Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, criticized the BJP's claims of reaching out to the last person in society, calling it an empty promise. Speaking at a public meeting in Chak Lal Din (Dei Chak) of Marh Assembly Constituency, he highlighted the adverse impact of the BJP's governance on various sections of the population, especially regarding power supply, water availability, and rising inflation. Mr. Sadhotra criticized the BJP's handling of essential services, especially during the humid and scorching monsoon season, leading to erratic power supply and dry taps. He mentioned the burden of smart meter installations and soaring electric bills on consumers, further exacerbating their difficulties. Addressing the issues faced by the marginalized and vulnerable in society, Mr. Sadhotra highlighted the denial of pensions to the elderly, physically challenged, and destitute, leaving them without the crucial support they need. He expressed concern over the lack of accountability and the apparent anti-poor mentality of the BJP. The former minister also spoke about the rising unemployment problem, with recruitment scams dashing the hopes of job seekers. He criticized the lack of vision in the administration to address the unemployment crisis, despite the BJP's promises of creating numerous jobs. Sadhotra lamented the weakening of democracy's representative character, with bureaucracy taking control and channels between the people and the government severed. He criticized the lack of a credible private sector in Jammu and Kashmir, attributing it to the government's failure to sustain the employability process introduced by the National Conference dispensation between 2009 and 2014. The former minister expressed concern for daily wage workers seeking regularization for over a decade, urging the administration to address their grievances and provide compensation for those affected by the damages caused by incessant rains and flash flooding. During the meeting, hundreds of people, led by Varinder Kumar Lakhotra, joined the National Conference, with the local leaders welcoming the new entrants. Lakhotra and others assured their commitment to strengthen the party and advocate for the welfare of the common people. Other local leaders who spoke at the event echoed Sadhotra's concerns and pledged to work with dedication to support the National Conference's programs and policies for the betterment of the people. |
