Senior NC, PDP leaders stay away from Para, Dar verbal clash | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 2: When it looked like that National Conference (NC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would say goodbye to each other and last nail has been struck in the coffin of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), there has been an unexpected twist as senior leaders from both parties have chosen to remain silent. The recent exchange of verbal blows between PDP youth leader Waheed Para and NC leader Imran Nabi brought the differences between the two parties into the public domain. However, rather than exacerbating the situation, the leadership of both parties seems to have realized the difficulties that lie ahead for them. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, “The silence from the top leadership of the NC and PDP has not gone unnoticed. The leaders understand complexities surrounding J&K especially after the abrogation of Article 370 as both the parties have lost ground and it’s not easy for them to make a comeback.” “NC and PDP are aware of the fact that PAGD exists on papers only and it can crumble any time. NC and PDP leaders and other constituents of the PAGD haven’t met for a long time and all the parties that had formed a common alliance in Kashmir in August 2019 are treading different paths,” he added. “The recent war of words between Para and Dar has brought to fore the bitterness leaders of both the parties have for each other but to remain relevant in the changed political scenario parties are trying to send a message that they are united,” the analyst said. “The NC and PDP are putting up with each other under compulsion as both the parties are aware that there is no way out and putting up a united front is the need of the hour. They are trying to bury the hatchet, rather than engaging in exacerbating the situation,” he added. |
