Congress demands use of VVPAT EVMs in JMC Elections | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 7 : The Dy Commission (District Election Officer) Jammu called a meeting of representatives of all main stream political parties on other day and took their view points in order to hold Jammu Municipal Elections in a free and fair manner. Narinder Gupta, representative from Congress party raised the issue of using faulty and below standard EVMs in 2018 JMC elections and said that this should not be happen this time, if the election authorities decide to use electronic voting machines in JMC elections. In this regard JKPCC President Shri Vikar Rasool Wani has written a letter to District Election Officer Jammu and demanded that Electron Voting Machines (EVM) having the facility of VVPAT should be used to ensure free and fair JMC elections. Congress also raised this issue during the last elections of Jammu Municipal Corporation but the Govt. at that time used the traditional machines in haste, which was also questioned by other political parties also in the fray. Congress always remained committed for free and fair elections. |
