| Udhampur District declared as ODF plus Model under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: Udhampur District has achieved a significant milestone in its cleanliness and sanitation efforts, as it has been declared as ODF plus Model under the Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G) initiative. This prestigious recognition has been bestowed upon Udhampur District, acknowledging its exceptional progress in the field of rural sanitation. As per the Rural Sanitation Directorate, all 388 villages of 236 Panchayats of Udhampur District have attained the ODF plus Model status under the SBM-G. This remarkable achievement is a testament to efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Charandeep Singh, Director Rural Sanitation J&K, Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, DPO, BDOs, and all the Rural Development staff towards ensuring cleanliness and proper sanitation facilities in rural areas. The Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen initiative aims to bring about a comprehensive transformation in the sanitation and hygiene practices of rural India. It strives to eliminate open defecation, promote solid and liquid waste management, and foster a culture of cleanliness and hygiene among the rural population. By being declared a model district, Udhampur has demonstrated its commitment to these goals and has set an example for other districts to follow.
