JKGPA highlights long-pending demands in press briefing | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 20: In a significant development, the Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association (JKGPA) conducted a press briefing on August 20th, led by Bharat Bhushan Bhagat, the association's president. The purpose of the briefing was to shed light on the longstanding demands of government pharmacists and to advocate for their rights and interests. The following key demands were highlighted during the press briefing: Upgrade of Post for Block Pharmacy Officer and District Pharmacy Officer: JKGPA urged for the elevation of the posts of Block Pharmacy Officer and District Pharmacy Officer. This enhancement is seen as crucial to recognize the valuable contributions of pharmacists in the healthcare system. Creation of Technical Officer Pharmacy Post: The association advocated for the establishment of the post of Technical Officer Pharmacy in every district hospital within the Union Territory. Drawing parallels with medical colleges, this move is aimed at enhancing patient care and rectifying perceived injustices faced by pharmacists within the health department. Change of Pharmacist Nomenclature: JKGPA called for a change in the nomenclature of the pharmacist position to align with the designations used in other states. This change is sought to reflect the role and responsibilities of pharmacists more accurately. Pharmacy Amendment Act 2023 Relief: The association expressed gratitude for the Gazette of India's publication of the Pharmacy Amendment Act 2023 order no. 29 of 2023, which brought significant relief to JK trained Medical Assistant/pharmacists. The act's implementation is expected to be facilitated through a notification from the JK pharmacy council soon. The Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association extended its gratitude to the Government of India and the Jammu and Kashmir Government for heeding their demands related to registration. They also expressed special appreciation to Sushil Sudan, President of JKMEF (Jammu and Kashmir Medical Employees Federation), and Sh. Sheikh Mirajudin, President of the Kashmir province, for their unwavering efforts to secure these positive outcomes for pharmacists. In addition, the association aimed to clear the air for all health employees in the province. They clarified that Sushil Sudan, a member of the apex body of the Pharmacy Council of India, will continue to serve as the elected president of JKMEF for the next three years. Certain dissenting self-proclaimed leaders were noted to be spreading unfounded rumors in an attempt to create discord and undermine the strong foundation of JKMEF. The association emphasized that these individuals have not significantly contributed to the welfare of health employees and lack the support of the employees. JKGPA affirmed that JKMEF serves as an amalgamation of all health employee organizations, dedicated to representing the interests and welfare of health employees. Furthermore, the association voiced its commitment to supporting the government's efforts in implementing central schemes aimed at improving patient care and the overall healthcare system. |
