Jammu, Aug 20: As preparations ramp up for the upcoming 2024 general elections, the District Jammu South unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has initiated an extensive citizen outreach program named “Ghar Ghar Chalo Abhiyan” or “House to House Movement” as part of the Voter Chetna Mahaabhiyaan (Voter Awareness Campaign).
The campaign aims to establish a direct connection with the general public of Jammu South and enhance the party’s grassroots activities.
Rekha Mahajan, the District President of BJP Jammu South, orchestrated a workshop on the Voter Chetna Mahabhiyaan at the party’s headquarters in Trikuta Nagar.
The primary objective of this campaign is to mobilize party members to engage with the masses and assist them with matters concerning electoral rolls and voter lists.
The workshop featured addresses from key leaders including Former Minister Sham Choudhary, District Prabhari Ayodhya Gupta, Former MLC Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Programme Convenor and Incharge of Library and Documentation Department Kulbhushan Mahotra, District General Secretaries Pushpinder Charak and Akash Chopra, along with program Co-convenor Narinder Singh Bunty and Harbans Choudhary.
Sham Choudhary disclosed that the campaign will be conducted from August 21 to 30, with a special drive scheduled for August 25 and 26. He commended the strategic acumen of all participants and their relentless dedication.
Ayodhya Gupta also reiterated the campaign’s duration and the focused approach during August 25 and 26. He emphasized the importance of door-to-door contact to verify electoral rolls, update voter details, address any discrepancies, and offer support to voters. This collaborative effort aims to foster a stronger connection between citizens and administrative authorities.
Kulbushan Mahotra, in his address, elaborated on the nationwide scope of the campaign.
He highlighted its core components, which include door-to-door interaction for verification of electoral rolls, ensuring accurate voter information, eliminating fraudulent entries, and providing assistance to voters. He emphasized the campaign’s collaboration with administrative authorities to streamline the electoral process.
Rekha Mahajan stressed the significance of boosting voter turnout and awareness to secure a substantial percentage of votes in favor of the party. She emphasized the transformative potential of increased voting participation in people’s lives, urging everyone to spread awareness about voting’s positive impact.
