Another sex racket busted in same Srinagar locality | What a coincidence? | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 25: Within four months, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted another sex racket in the same Nowgam locality of the summer capital of Srinagar here. What is equally interesting is that in both cases, same number of arrests have been made whereas in both the cases the brothels were running from rented accommodations. Another coincidence is that in both the cases, the building owners were subsequently arrested on the next day and that both the buildings were sealed by police. On August 23, the police had raided a rented house in Nowgam and arrested five persons in the sex racket case. “On basis of information provided by citizens, 3 females (all locals) & 2 males arrested for running a prostitution racket from a rented building of a sarpanch at Shan Mohalla, Nowgam. FIR 131/2023 under sections 3,4,8 of Immoral Trafficking Prevention Act registered at Nowgam PS,” the police had said. The next day on August 24, the police said: “The house owner of the brothel namely Abdul Razak Najar S/o Abdul Khalil Najar R/o Chan Mohalla Nowgam also arrested in this case. He willfully provided his premises for immoral activities. The house is also sealed. He is a Sarpanch and affiliated with a regional political party.” Four months ago, similar scene was witnessed in same locality. In April, a sex racket was busted in same Nowgam locality, and five people were arrested there also. "Investigation in Chanpura case led to busting of another prostitution racket in Nowgam area. 1) Shabir Mir of charlipora nowgam, 2) his wife Shazia Mir & 3) Adil Gulzar Hazar of Soura arrested on spot for operating this racket. 2 customers & a sex worker also detained(all locals)," the Srinagar police had said. The sex racket was running from a rented accommodation, the police had said. Subsequently, cops sealed the property and started the process of formal attachment to the house. The house owner was also arrested. A police official confirmed to the Early Times that it seemed to be the same story repeating. |
