BIS JKBO organized Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of Cement Industry

JAMMU, Aug 31: BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office successfully organized a Two-Day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of Cement Industry on 30-31 August 2023 at Hotel Four Points, Srinagar. The program was attended by technical persons of all the Cement Industries of Kashmir region.
The program started with welcome address by Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director BIS JKBO in which he said that the main objective of the Capsule Course is capacity building of industry so as to raise the quality Ecosystem of our country. He added, through this program, QCPs will be imparted training on requirements, methods of sampling and tests of different types of cements, e-Portal of BIS for online effective operations of ISI Mark licences and BIS Guidelines for effective implementation of Conformity Assessment Schemes. He urged the participants to best utilize this tailor-made training program to harness their knowledge and testing skills.
Later, Niraj Mishra, Asstt. Director JKBO gave presentation on Cement Chemistry covering different types of cements based on their chemical compositions and applications, various cement manufacturing processes and control points for quality production. He also detailed about the requirements and test methods prescribed in Indian Standards for OPC along with its Product Manual. It was followed by demonstration of e-BIS portal, Know your Standards webpage and BIS Care App by Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, JKBO.
During the 2-Day training, the participants visited the lab of M/s Khyber Industries pvt ltd, Khonmoh, a leading manufacturer of OPC in the region, where chemical and physical testing of cement were discussed and demonstrated to them.
In the program, the of QCPs shared their experiences on manufacturing and testing of Cement.
The participants welcomed this initiative of BIS for organizing the trainings for the industry and also appreciated the methodology followed in the capsule course for imparting theoretical as well as practical knowledge on cement.
