Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 7: Promising sport climber Shivani Charak, hailing from Jammu and Kashmir, is set to make her mark on the international stage as she departs with a team of seven talented climbers to participate in the Asian Cup Bouldering Competition in Hong Kong. The competition is scheduled to take place from September 9th to 10th, 2023, and features top climbers from across the continent. Joining Shivani on this exciting journey are four female climbers from India, along with Bharat Pereira and Lokesh Chandra from Karnataka, Aman Verma and Anisha Verma from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation in Jamshedpur, Saniya Farooque Shaikh from Maharashtra, C. Maibam from Manipur, and Ritika Rawat from Delhi. Accompanying the team as their coach is Bibhas Roy from Tata Steel Adventure Foundation. This endeavor has received support from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, which serves as the apex body for adventure sports in the country. Shivani's participation in the Asian Cup Bouldering Competition holds significant promise, offering her valuable exposure to competing on international-standard boulders. A strong performance in this competition could further bolster her chances of representing India in forthcoming international sport climbing events. Leaders of the Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir, including Zorawar Singh Jamwal (President), Ram Khajuria (Sr. Vice President), Shawetica Khajuria (General Secretary), and Sushil Singh (Treasurer), alongside Patrons of Tawi Trekkers J&K, Ashwani Sharma (former MLA) and Rahul Sharma (Chairman, Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu), have extended their best wishes to Shivani.
