Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 7: Senior Citizens Support Service Club, Chowadi, hosted an interactive session addressing the alleged neglect of Dogri language and culture in official circles. Eminent personalities from the realm of Dogri literature and officials from Nami Dogri Sanstha came together to discuss this pressing issue. Dr. KL Gupta, Chairman of the Club and former Principal GMC, emphasized the pivotal role language plays in unifying a society. He lamented that despite its significance, Dogri promotion remains in the shadows. Ashok Gupta, President of the Club and former Drug Controller J&K, echoed these concerns. He urged Dogri enthusiasts and Nami Dogri Sanstha officials to collaborate in championing the Dogri language and Dogra culture. Maj Gen SK Sharma, AVSM and General Secretary of the club, pointed out that the National Education Policy NEP-2020 advocates mother tongue as the medium of instruction for classes 1 to 5. However, the SCERT JK Calendar for 2022-23 lists only five major subjects, omitting Dogri from the curriculum. SK Sharma, Former Income Tax Commissioner, Dr. Chanchal Sharma, Asst Editor Cultural Academy, Yash Pal Yash, Inder Jeet Kesar (Sahitya Academy awardee), and Capt Lalit Sharma, shared their concerns. They highlighted their efforts in organizing Kavi Goshti, Mushairaihs, and honoring contributors to Dogra culture. It was unanimously agreed that Nami Dogri Sanstha would organize a Kavi Sammelan at the premises of the Senior Citizen Support Service Club in Chowadi in the near future. Furthermore, they committed to pursuing this matter with SCERT JK and the Board of School Education, Jammu. Participants also included Sh. Kailash Langer, Dr. Nirmal Vaid, Prof. Nirmal Kamal, Sh.
