| CAO inspects agriculture activities in Agriculture Sub Division Billawar | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Sept 8: On September 8, 2023, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, Sanjeev Rai Gupta conducted an extensive tour of the Agriculture Sub Division Billawar, where he engaged with numerous progressive farmers and observed various field activities in the region.
During his visit, Sanjeev Rai Gupta witnessed a wide range of agricultural activities that exemplify the agricultural diversity in the area. These activities were carried out with the technical support of the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers' Welfare, Kathua. In the Panchayat Ramkot, he inaugurated a Farm Machinery Bank, which will serve as a valuable resource for increasing farm machinery power in the region.
One of the key highlights of his tour was a visit to Panchayat Durung, where he observed successful Marigold cultivation by farmer Shabir Ahmed. He encouraged Shabir Ahmed to explore off-season vegetable cultivation using protected methods and assured him of subsidies available under the Horticulture and Agriculture Diversification Program (HADP). This visit showcased the effectiveness of government support in improving crop yields.
Additionally, Sanjeev Rai Gupta handed over a reaper-cum-binder on subsidized rates to Ashok Kumar Tripathi from Thaintu village, in line with departmental norms. The tour continued with inspections of various demonstrations of millet minikits laid by the department in farmers' fields in the villages of Ramkot, Ucchapind, Thaintu, Gujroo Nagrota, and Pabnoo.
During the tour, Sanjeev Rai Gupta also met with Women Self Help Groups in the area and assured them of relentless support from the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers' Welfare, Kathua.
