Professor Rajni Kant appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University Bhopal

Jammu, Sept 8: Professor Rajni Kant, who currently serves as the Dean of Research Studies and a Professor of Physics at the University of Jammu, has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University in Bhopal. The university has officially communicated this appointment, which is for a term of four years.
Professor Rajni Kant has had a distinguished academic career, having joined the University of Jammu as a Lecturer in 1989 and subsequently achieving the position of full Professor in 2003. His academic achievements include being recognized as the first young scientist awardee in 1991 by the State Council of Science and Technology.
He was also a DST-BOYSCAST fellow at the University of Oxford from 1994 to 1995. In the previous year, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of London (FRSC) and a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society. Additionally, in 2020, he was appointed as a Fellow of the Ministry of Human Resource Development under its LEAP-2.0 Program, which he completed at IIT Kharagpur and Cambridge University, U.K.
Professor Rajni Kant is well-known for his research in the field of small molecule X-ray crystallography, and he has presented his work at numerous international conferences around the world. He has also served the University of Jammu in various leadership roles, including as Rector of Ramnagar and Kathua Campus, Chief Coordinator of all offsite campuses, Controller of Examination, Director of College Development Council, Director of Distance Education, Director of Academic Staff College of UGC, Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Head of the Physics and Electronics Department. Additionally, he has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Phil. students and published over 483 research papers in national and international journals. He has also successfully managed eighteen research projects funded by various national agencies such as DST, UGC, CSIR, ICMR, and DAE.
During the recent Foundation Day celebrations of the University of Jammu, a revised edition of his popular book titled “Applied Solid State Physics” was released by the Hon’ble Chancellor of JU and Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha.
Professor Rajni Kant’s appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University in Bhopal reflects his outstanding contributions to academia and research.
