Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 11: The NCC and NSS units of Government SPMR College of Commerce, Jammu, in collaboration with the Youth Club and Eco Club, organized a rally and symposiums as part of the "Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K Week." The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college.
The program commenced with an awareness rally, which was flagged off by the college's Principal. During the rally, students carried banners highlighting the adverse effects of corruption and chanted slogans in favor of a corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir. The Principal addressed the students and stressed that corruption is a termite eating away at the fabric of our society. He emphasized that a corruption-free society would result in equal opportunities for all and contribute to the overall development of the country. Faculty members of the college also participated in the rally.
Following the rally, a symposium was held on the theme "Corruption-Free J&K," in which seven students, including Cadet Himanshu Khullar, Cadet Tanish Sharma, Cadet Sourav Kumar, Cadet Jatin Kumar, Rasneet Kour, Palvi Sarmal, and Pranav Verma, shared their perspectives on the menace of corruption and discussed preventive measures. The students also took an oath to refrain from engaging in corruption in any form, contributing to the vision of a corruption-free Jammu and Kashmir and India.
During the event, Prof. Barbara Kaul discussed the root causes that lead to corruption, emphasizing that it often begins as individuals seek shortcuts to get tasks done. She underscored the importance of inculcating honesty and integrity in society to combat corruption. Prof. Savita Jamwal, ANO NCC, addressed the students, emphasizing that students are the backbone of society, and their honesty plays a crucial role in achieving a corruption-free nation. She highlighted that corruption is the root cause of poverty, inequality, and injustice.
Other faculty members present at the event included Dr. Monika Malhotra, Dr. Nazia Rasool, Prof. Deepshikha Sharma, Dr. Shipra Gupta, Dr. Sarabjeet Kour, Dr. Fayza, Dr. Jagmeet Kaur, Dr. Deepak Pathania, and Raman Kumar Sharma. The entire event was conducted by Cadet Himanshu Khullar.
This initiative at SPMR College of Commerce demonstrates the commitment of students and faculty to raising awareness about corruption and working towards a more transparent and equitable society.
