Ahead of ULB polls, National Conference dares Peoples Conference in Sajad Lone’s hometown | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 11: Even as the Urban Local Body polls are round the corner, the National Conference has seemingly dared the Peoples Conference. The National Conference has formally announced that “hardcore” cadres of the party led by Sajad Lone have joined the party led by Abdullahs. The development has taken place in Sajad Lone’s native Handwara, which is seen as his “home turf.” “Hardcore Activists of People’s Conference from Budkoot Rajwar, joined NC this evening at Handwara in presence of Senior leader and Constituency I/C Handwara, Chowdary Mohammad Ramzan,” the NC said. It’s for the first time in the recent past that the NC has “openly challenged” the PC in this way. It’s pertinent to mention that Sajad Lone has been speaking against the NC for several months now but the other party had largely been silent. But the NC has spoken about the PC while saying that the “hardcore” leaders of the party have joined them. For the last few months Sajad Lone had been frequently saying that the NC would go for alliance with the BJP to form government in Kashmir. The PC leaders would often target the NC leaders but the latter would largely be silent. Its pertinent to mention that Sajad Lone has long been known for speaking against Abdullahs but had gone for “temporary friendship” when his party was part of the Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration or PAGD. After leaving the PAGD, however, Sajad again trained guns on the “grand old party.” Just a few weeks ago, Sajad Lone was camping in north Kashmir’s Kupwara. His party had dissolved the district body all of a sudden with the rumor mills running rife that “all is not well with the party affairs in the frontier district.” Despite repeated attempts the leaders of the two parties couldn’t be contacted for comments. |
