Kalash Yatras under second phase of Meri Mati Mera Desh Initiative in J&K , Ladakh

Jammu, Sept 11: The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, has launched various programs as part of the second phase of the “Meri Mati Mera Desh” initiative. The national event has been rolled out in all the districts of the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh by NYKS.
Notably, the second phase of “Meri Mati Mera Desh” includes the organization of “Amrit Kalash Yatras” in all villages across India from September 1st to September 30th, 2023, during which soil or rice is collected in an Amrit Kalash.
In Jammu Division, various programs were organized. A soil collection program took place in Kathua district with the participation of Col Mahan Singh, Chairperson DDC Kathua, and Sh. Narayan Dutt, Member DDC. Similar programs were held in Rajouri district at Panchayat Dharamsal of Block Siot and in Udhampur district in the Narsoo Block with the presence of various eminent personalities.
Similar events were organized in different villages and blocks of Kashmir Division. In Anantnag district, Kalash Yatras were organized by Youth Volunteers with the participation of different Eminent Personalities in different Panchayats, where people actively contributed soil and rice from their homes.
Similar activities were carried out in Budgam and Srinagar districts.
In Leh district, Kalash Yatras were conducted in Shay and Thekshay Blocks in collaboration with the Army and with the participation of various religious heads and PRI members.
The Block-level Amrit Kalash Yatras will be held from October 1st to October 13th, 2023, during which the soil or rice collected at the village level will be brought to an identified location and poured into a larger Kalash at the Block Level.
This event will also feature cultural programs and the honoring of Veernaris (war widows) and Bravehearts. From October 22nd to October 27th, 2023, State-level Kalash Yatras will be conducted, during which the Kalash collected at the Block levels will be gathered at the State Capital for onward travel to the National Capital by Volunteers from October 28th to October 30th, 2023.
