GDC Nagrota marks World Ozone Day with a focus on environmental preservation

NAGROTA, Sept 16: The Department of Geography, in collaboration with the IQAC Cell (Internal Quality Assurance Cell), at Government Degree College Nagrota came together to celebrate "World Ozone Day" under the theme: "Montreal Protocol: Fixing the ozone layer and reducing climate change." The event aimed to educate and raise awareness about the importance of protecting the ozone layer and its critical role in mitigating climate change.
Professor Renu initiated the program by shedding light on the significance of World Ozone Day and the potential consequences of ozone layer depletion. Her insightful remarks set the stage for a thoughtful discussion on the subject.
The event was orchestrated under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Nalini Pathania, the Principal of GDC Nagrota, who commended the organizing team for their dedicated efforts in promoting environmental awareness.
Professor Neetu Singh, the Convenor of IQAC, also shared valuable insights with the students, discussing the pros and cons of World Ozone Day. This exchange of knowledge aimed to empower the students with a deeper understanding of environmental issues and their potential solutions.
The event was attended by several esteemed faculty members, including Professor Vandana Ghai (HOD Chemistry), Dr. Desh Bandhu (HOD Physics), Prof. Adeeti (HOD Computer Science), and Professor Shalini Raina (HOD Political Science). Their presence underscored the collective commitment to preserving the ozone layer and fostering environmental stewardship.
The primary objective of this program was to raise awareness among the student community regarding the depletion of the ozone layer and to encourage discussions on possible measures to protect and conserve it.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Professor Dinesh Singh, Head of the Department of Education, expressing gratitude to all participants and highlighting the importance of collective efforts in safeguarding our planet's environment.
