Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 1: Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu took part in a series of activities under the "Sawachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2023," guided by the Directorate of Skill Development Department J&K. The campaign aimed to address the growing pollution and promote environmental conservation. As part of the campaign, a "Cleanliness Drive" was conducted on October 1, 2023, following the directives of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of Government Polytechnic Jammu, led the campaign, joined by Heads of Departments (HODs), staff, and students. To combat the plastic menace, students pledged their commitment to "Plastic Waste Management," "Sanitation," and a "Cleanliness Drive." They also actively campaigned against the "Single Use of Plastic." To raise awareness about environmental pollution, students and staff organized a "Walkathon" from the institute's campus to Bikram Chowk. Following the walkathon, a cleanliness drive was organized in the vicinity of the college campus. Armed with brooms, dustbins, and a shared vision, participants worked together to eliminate plastic waste and discourage the use of polybags, supporting the nationwide campaign for a greener and more eco-friendly Earth. The institute's students engaged in various activities, including rangoli making, debate competitions, poster design, and more, all geared towards promoting environmental awareness. Er Arun Bangotra, the Principal of Government Polytechnic Jammu, encouraged students to play an active role in conducting mass awareness programs to protect the environment. He stressed the importance of planting trees, conserving water, and maintaining cleanliness, emphasizing the significance of a garbage-free environment. The campaign saw active participation from various departments, including Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT, Instrumentation & Control, Computer Science, T&T, and Physical Education. Staff and students of Government Polytechnic Jammu were actively involved in all the activities to commemorate the occasion. |
