Cleanliness Drive Marks Gandhi Jayanti at GDC Ramban under ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ Campaign”
10/1/2023 10:31:44 PM
Early Times Report

Ramban, Oct 1: In the run-up to the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2023, Govt. Degree College (GDC) Ramban organized a cleanliness drive under the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign on October 1, 2023.
The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and sanitation, aligning with the vision of a clean India set by Mahatma Gandhi and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiated by the Government of India in 2014.
Under the guidance of NSS program officer Prof. Vickey Rattan, numerous students, including NSS volunteers, actively participated in the cleanliness drive. Faculty members and other college employees also joined the campaign, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
During the cleanliness drive, students and staff used various tools such as brooms and khurpas to clean both indoor and outdoor areas of the college.
They worked diligently to empty drains and dispose of trash in designated trash cans. Wrappers, garbage, and other debris were manually collected from the college lawn and the canteen area outside the college building, ensuring proper disposal.
To enhance the aesthetic appeal of the campus, students undertook the task of decorating the stone rings surrounding the bases of plants and trees within the college premises. They painted the exposed surfaces of rocks and stone mounds erected around the college building, adding a touch of beauty to the environment.
The students participated in the cleanliness campaign with great enthusiasm, reiterating their commitment to the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign and the ideals of a clean India as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi. The college’s Principal, Prof. Archana Kaul, has been providing guidance and patronage for all the cleanliness initiatives and activities within the college.
