Admission in Canada: Mother, daughter charge sheeted in Rs 12 lakh fraud

Jammu, Oct 4: Economic Offences Wing – Crime Branch Jammu charge-sheeted fraudsters Mother– daughter duo – 1) Balwant Kour Wd/o Lt. Tagjit Singh 2) Simran Mann D/o Tagjit Singh both residents of Sec.44, Chandigarh in case FIR No. 34/2021 U/S 420,120-B /IPC P/S Crime Branch Jammu for their involvement in hatching criminal conspiracy in duping the complainant of Rs 12 Lakhs after they promised him to send his daughter to Canada for Higher Education and later cheated him. 149 Page chargesheet was produced in the Court of law for judicial determination.
The case was registered on a written complaint lodged by Raj Kumar Nischal S/o Kidar Nath Nischel R/o 309, Chowk Chabutra Lane Opp. Gurdwara Baba Chanda Singh Pacca Danga Jammu wherein it was alleged that his daughter Miss Aditi Nischal while doing private job as Graphic Designer at M/S Sunrise International, SCO 86-87 in 2016 his daughter came in contact with accused Ms. Simran Mann who was also serving there as IELTS Teacher assured to send her daughter to Canada for higher studies by charging Rs. 12.00 lacs. On the request of his daughter, the complainant transferred the amount from his account to the account of accused through RTGS. When his daughter approached the accused Simran Mann for necessary documentation she dodged her on one pretext or other and finally cheated them.
On receipt of the complaint, a preliminary verification was initiated and the allegations were prima-facie established and subsequently, the instant case was registered for in-depth investigation. Relevant record was seized, statement of witnesses recorded, Scientific, Circumstantial and other Material evidence was gathered and offences of cheating against the accused Mother– daughter duo – 1) Balwant Kour Wd/o Lt. Tagjit Singh 2) Simran Mann D/o Tagjit Singh both residents of Sec.44, Chandigarh for luring the complainant and cheating them on the pretext of arranging Higher Education in Canada has been established. While the accused Balwant Kour is on bail after she was arrested by Crime Branch Jammu, her daughter co-accused Simran Mann is still at large and proceeding U/S 512 Cr.PC stands initiated against her.
