Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Oct 5: In line with the Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat Activities in Azaadi Ka Amrut Kaal during India's G20 presidency and the Meri Maati Mera Desh initiative, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, the Principal of GDC Udhampur, proudly flagged off a contingent of students from the college. They are set to participate in the highly anticipated Bhaderwah Sangam Youth Festival 2023, scheduled to take place from October 6th to October 10th, 2023. The spirited contingent consists of twenty-five enthusiastic students. During the afternoon, the Principal presided over the flag-off ceremony, which was attended by several distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Babu Lal Thakur, Head of the Department of Education, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Coordinator of NCORD, Dr. Ajay Sharma, NSS Program Officer and Head of the Department of Mathematics, among others. Dr. Rippy Bawa, one of the NSS Program Officers of the college, and Prof. Kaku Ram, a faculty member from the Department of BBA, will accompany the team. Addressing the participants on this auspicious occasion, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, both a patron and the Principal, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the selected participants for their inclusion in the festival. He emphasized that their involvement in such events would prove invaluable in their lives and future careers, fostering holistic development and providing unique experiences. Dr. Gupta believed that this participation would leave a lasting impact, enriching their understanding of their heritage, values, traditions, and diversity. He bid farewell to the contingent, advising them to exhibit discipline and give their best in the events they would partake in, while extending his heartfelt wishes for their success. It's worth noting that the team of 25 students from the college comprises participants in cultural, sports, and literary events at the Sangam 2023 festival. The festival's central focus has always been to unite folk traditions from various regions of Jammu & Kashmir, showcasing the cultural and regional diversity of the Union Territory and the former State of J&K under one roof. The college's contingent will engage in activities ranging from Group Dance, Group Song, Solo Dance, Solo Song, debates, games, sports, and track and field events.
