10/5/2023 10:21:16 PM
Early Times Report
SAMBA, Oct 5: In a swift response to two separate incidents of assault and criminal trespass, the Samba Police, under the vigilant supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, apprehended a total of eleven (11) individuals involved in these cases within the jurisdiction of the Samba Police Station.
In the first case, seven (7) individuals were arrested for their alleged involvement in an assault on a Sarpanch at Dhora, Samba. The incident began with a collision between the Sarpanch's car and a youth from Dhora. Subsequently, the Sarpanch was reportedly kidnapped and subjected to a brutal assault by a group of individuals, resulting in his hospitalization at GMC Jammu due to head injuries. The Samba Police swiftly registered FIR No. 231/2023, invoking the relevant sections of the law, and conducted a series of raids leading to the arrest of the seven accused. Ongoing investigations may result in further arrests.
In the second case, four (4) individuals were arrested for a criminal trespass incident that occurred at Krandi, Rakh Amb Talli, Samba. The Samba Police registered FIR No. 204/2023 under the relevant sections of the law, responding to a complaint about the trespass, and promptly arrested the four accused.
The diligent work that led to these arrests was carried out under the leadership of SHO P/S Samba, Daljit Singh Jamwal, and PSI Shakti Singh. They operated under the guidance and supervision of DySP G.R. Bhardwaj and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh, while addressing the incidents, appealed to the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through lawful means and avoiding physical altercations over trivial matters. SSP Tosh issued clear directives to all Station House Officers (SHOs) in the district, instructing them to take decisive action against those who resort to vigilantism and physical assault, firmly curbing lawlessness in Samba district. The message from the authorities is clear: adherence to the law is paramount, and law enforcement will not tolerate any breach.
