ADGP armed felicitates J&K police water sports team for bronze medal win

SRINAGAR, Oct 5: S.J.M Gillani, IPS, Additional Director General of Police (Armed) for Jammu & Kashmir, extended a warm felicitation to the members of the J&K Police Water Sports team for their outstanding achievement of securing a Bronze medal in the Open National Canoe Sprint Senior Men & Women Championship-2023. The championship took place at Tehri Lake, Tehri Garhwal (Uttarakhand) from September 14th to 17th, 2023.
The J&K Police Water Sports team, consisting of four players and coached by SgCt Showkat Ahmad, was sponsored by the J&K Water Sports Kayaking & Canoeing Association. They were part of a contingent comprising nine members representing the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The overall supervision of the team was overseen by Kuldeep Handoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) at the APHQ, and Shri Ram Singh, Inspector (in-charge of J&K Police Mountain Rescue Team).
In the C-4 (200 meters) event, the J&K Police Water Sports team comprising Ct. Showkat Hussain, SPO Moisar Ahmad, SPO Aquib Hussain, and SPO Idrees Hussain showcased their exceptional skills, resulting in a well-deserved Bronze Medal win. During a felicitation ceremony held at APHQ J&K Srinagar, ADGP Armed J&K S.J.M. Gillani-IPS congratulated the medal-winning members of the J&K Police Water Sports team and conveyed his best wishes for their future endeavors. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including S/Shri Mahmood Ahmed, SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K; Syed Sajad Hussain, Private Secretary to ADGP Armed J&K; Ab. Hamid, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Personnel) at APHQ; and Kuldeep Handoo, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Sports) at APHQ, along with the coach and team members of the J&K Police Water Sports team.
