Jammu, Oct 6: MIER College of Education through its NSS Unit, conducted Poshan Maah, a month-long health programme from September 1 to September 30, 2023. Poshan Abhiyaan is the initiative of India’s Ministry of Women and Child Development that aims to improve community mobilization and involvement to fight infant and maternal malnutrition and to ensure everyone’s health and nutrition. In keeping with the focus of the programme, the NSS volunteers conducted a door-to-door nutrition and health awareness campaign in their neighbourhood, educating residents about the benefits of eating a healthy and balanced diet. Dr. Adit Gupta, Director and Principal, commended the NSS team for their tenacious efforts throughout the month. He emphasized the importance of the young generation participating in community service and urged the students to take part in social work projects so as to become productive and contributing members of society. In addition to praising the commitment of NSS volunteers, Rupa Gupta, Joint Director, MIER, remarked that these programmes facilitate and encourage effective societal awareness and further improve the nutritional outcomes for children, adolescent girls, and women. The community appreciated the persistent efforts of NSS volunteers. Dr. Reeta Dwivedi, Program Officer, NSS Unit, MIER College, supervised the whole event. |
