Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 6: Government Degree College (GDC), Kathua, marked National Wildlife Week with a series of engaging activities sponsored by the J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council. The event, organized by the Ravi Eco Club and Science Club of the college, included a guest lecture by Amit Sharma, Wildlife Warden at Jambo Zoo, and a Poster Making Competition. The event was conducted under the mentorship of Principal Prof. Seema Mir and coordinated by . Sunita Razdan, Joint Director of J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener of the Science Club, Dr. Deepshikha, Convener of Ravi Eco Club, and Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Organizing Secretary and Nodal Officer. Various faculty members, including Dr. Surya Partap Singh, Dr. Suresh Sharma, Prof. Neha Mahajan, Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Prof. Neeru Sharma, Dr. Verinder Singh, Prof. Ram Krishan, and Prof. Nisha Bhagat, played pivotal roles in the successful execution of the event. The event commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Prof. Seema Mir, in the presence of several dignitaries, including Prof. Rakesh Singh, Amit Sharma, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, Prof. Raj Kiran, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Deepshikha Sharma, and Dr. Anupama Arora. Principal Prof. Seema Mir highlighted the significance of such awareness programs in increasing public awareness regarding the role of wildlife in maintaining nature's balance. She emphasized that damage to wildlife over an extended period endangers the entire ecosystem. Prof. Mir commended the efforts of the Ravi Eco Club and Science Club in organizing the activities and thanked J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council for their support.
