Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 6: The NSS Unit II of GGM College organized the "Meri Mati Mera Desh Amrit Kalash Yatra" at GGM Science College, with the patronage of Principal Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta and guidance from NSS Program Officer Dr. Deepali Mahajan. The event takes its name from the Sanskrit words "amrit," meaning "ambrosia," "immortality," and "imperishable," and "kalash," which refers to a pot or jar believed to contain "amrita," the elixir of life. The "Meri Maati Mera Desh" program aims to create an emotional connection between every individual, family, and citizen with the idea of building a great India. NSS Unit II volunteers played a significant role by collecting soil and rice grains from their own households and depositing them in the Amrit kalash (elixir pot) located on the college campus. During the event, the Panch Pran pledge was taken by Principal Prof. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, NSS Program Officer Dr. Deepali Mahajan, and the NSS Unit II volunteers. The soil from these Amrit Kalash pots will be placed in the Amrit Vatika, paying homage to India's brave heroes. Subsequently, the kalash will be handed over to a block-level agency as part of this meaningful initiative. Numerous enthusiastic volunteers from NSS Unit II, including Hritik Kumar, Aakriti Sharma, Mohd. Arshad, Palvinder Kour, Sanchit Sharma, Anuradha, Simranjeet Kour, Avleen Kour, Manisha Sharma, Adhya Khatoon, Sumit Kumar, Arbaz, Gurleen Kour, and Subhay, actively participated in this event. |
