Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 14: The Jammu and Kashmir State Project for Youth Mobilization (JKSPYM), the State Level Coordinating Agency, orchestrated a vital "Two-days Training Program on De-addiction for Health Service Providers." This event was held on October 13th and 14th, 2023, at the training hall of the Government Maternity Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, GMC Jammu, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. The training program drew participants from various healthcare roles, including nurses, MLHPs (Mid-Level Health Providers), health educators, nursing tutors, counselors, and pharmacists hailing from districts Samba, Kathua, Reasi, and Jammu. Dr. Arun Sharma, the Medical Superintendent of the Government Maternity Hospital in Gandhi Nagar, inaugurated the program, setting the tone for two days of education and collaboration. A team of resource persons from the Psychiatric department of GMC Jammu and GMH Gandhi Nagar shared their expertise with the attendees. The comprehensive training program covered a spectrum of crucial topics. Participants were introduced to the components of the "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan" (Addiction-Free India Campaign) and provided an overview of drugs, drug addiction prevention, and treatment. The program also delved into the principles of drug addiction treatment, with a specific focus on drug addiction in women and pregnant women. Attendees were introduced to the ASSIST Screening Tool, learning how to effectively use and score it, and were made aware of "Pharmacotherapy in Drug Addiction" to equip health workers with vital knowledge. The event reached its conclusion with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the dedication and commitment of the participants. Dr. Arun Sharma, the Medical Superintendent of GMH Gandhi Nagar, and Ms. Pallavi Singh, the Program Director, had the honor of presenting certificates to all the deserving individuals. This training program exemplifies JKSPYM's ongoing efforts to empower healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills needed to address the critical issue of drug addiction and contribute to a healthier society.
