GDC, organizes Essay Writing Competition on Khadi | | | Early Times Report RS PURA, Oct 14: In line with the spirit of the Khadi Mahotasav Campaign, the NSS Unit and Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Club of Government Degree College, R. S. Pura, organized an engaging Essay Writing Competition on the theme "Khadi: Vocal For Local." The event, held under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, and supervised by Prof. Bindu Kumari, NSS Program Officer, aimed to raise awareness about the significance of Khadi and promote the 'vocal for local' initiative. A total of 30 enthusiastic NSS volunteers participated in the competition, showcasing their deep interest and commitment to the theme. The essays were assessed and adjudged by Prof. Sukhwinder Kaur, who had the challenging task of selecting the winners. The first prize was awarded to Neetu Kumari, while the second prize was secured by Vishakha, both from Semester III. The third prize was claimed by Sahil Kumar, also from Semester III. These accomplished students demonstrated their understanding of Khadi's role in benefiting the economy, ecology, and women's empowerment. This competition served as an effective platform to sensitize the youth about the rich heritage and importance of Khadi, encouraging them to support local products and appreciate the positive impact it can have on the nation's economy and ecology. The event further underscored the importance of Khadi in women's empowerment, reinforcing the government's 'vocal for local' initiative and the significance of sustainable and locally sourced materials. |
