Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 14: The Institute of Music & Fine Arts, University of Jammu, organized a musical program titled "Nam Gum Jayega" at its campus to pay homage to the Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar, and celebrate her birth anniversary. The event was graced by Prof. Anupama Sharma, a noted singer, as the chief guest. Special guests included Pt. Prithvi Raj Sharma, a renowned music director and composer; Jang S. Verman, an artist, writer, and journalist; Harish Kaila, a music composer; and the President of Nami Dogri Sanstha, Jammu. Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik, the Principal of IMFA, University of Jammu, presided over the program. Prof. Shohab welcomed the guests and shared that the institute regularly organizes cultural events to promote art, music, and culture. This time, the institute featured an exhibition of portraits of Lata Mangeshkar, created by the students, along with a program consisting of musical compositions sung by Lata Mangeshkar. In her address, Prof. Anupama Sharma appreciated the songs and compositions performed by the participants and acknowledged the abundance of local talent that deserves recognition and appreciation. The program included a cultural performance of songs by students of the institute and guest artists under the direction of Suraj Singh, a noted singer and a faculty member at IMFA. The singers presented musical compositions and songs originally sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Their performance was well-received and applauded by the audience. The accompanists for the musical compositions were Suraj Singh on harmonium, Amit on tabla, and Synth. The event was attended by Rakesh Sharma, Head of the Fine Arts Department, along with other staff, students, and guests, making it a successful tribute to the legendary Lata Mangeshkar. |
