Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 20: The Red Cross unit of Maulana Azad Memorial College, Jammu, in collaboration with the State branch Red Cross unit of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, organized an informative awareness camp on first aid for students. The aim was to equip students with life-saving techniques that can be invaluable in times of disasters or emergencies. Various officials from the State branch Red Cross participated in the event, sharing their expertise and knowledge in their respective fields with the students.
Dr. Aasia Noor, a medical officer, led a session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and emphasized the critical role that people can play as first responders in dire situations. Her session was vital in teaching students how to provide immediate assistance in emergencies.
Virinoca Marwah, a Field Officer, provided insight into the historical background and the operational aspects of the Red Cross organization. Kanchan Devi, a Superintendent Pharmacist, offered practical knowledge on the use of first-aid kits, a fundamental skill in rendering aid during emergencies.
Other key participants from the State branch included Rajpal and Dharani, who contributed their expertise and knowledge to enrich the students' understanding of first aid and emergency response.
The entire program was organized by the Red Cross club of the college under the guidance of the college's Principal, Prof. Sanjay Karlupia (Officiating Principal). Prof. Karlupia highlighted the significant role of youth in disaster management and encouraged them to be proactive in assisting people during such challenging situations.
The successful execution of the awareness camp was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Prof. Meenakshi (Convenor of Red Cross at MAM College), Prof. Ranjodh Singh, Prof. Koushal Kiran, Prof. Lukesha, Prof. Shabir Ahmed, and the coordination efforts of Sania Bali from the 5th semester.
The awareness camp on first aid not only equipped the students with practical life-saving skills but also fostered a sense of community responsibility and humanitarian values, aligning with the principles of the Red Cross organization. It is a step towards creating a more prepared and resilient community.
