Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: Shashi Sharma, President of the Ex. Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (CPMWA) in Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory, has drawn attention to a series of enduring issues and demands faced by retired Central Paramilitary Forces. In a press conference, he emphasized the pressing need for addressing these concerns and rectifying disparities in their treatment compared to Defense Forces under the Ministry of Defense (MOD). Sharma highlighted the imbalance in treatment between Paramilitary and Defense Forces, despite their shared dedication, valor, and patriotism. He pointed out that Paramilitary Forces face stringent service conditions, with provisions for punishments on par with Defense Forces, while their pay, perks, post-retirement benefits, and pensions are governed by the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules 1972, which offer benefits comparable only to those of Central Government Civilian Employees. He made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting immediate attention to the matter of pensions for Paramilitary Forces, specifically referencing the 2006 and 2015 pension schemes. Sharma advocated for equitable pension rates mirroring those of Defense Forces. For instance, he proposed a basic pension of 9,000 for a CT with 33 years of service, 12,500 for an HC with 20/33 years, 15,500 for an ASI with 20/33 years, 21,500 for an SI with 20/33 years of service supervision, and 22,500 for Inspectors with 33 years of superannuation. The CPMWA cited a Government of India order from November 23, 2012, which urged State Governments and Union Territories to extend similar benefits to CAPF personnel from BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB as provided to ex-servicemen of Defense Forces. They called upon the Government of India to ensure the full implementation of these benefits. Sharma and the Association also expressed concern about the pending recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission and 18 months of Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears. They stressed the importance of promptly disbursing these arrears, as a potential failure to do so has led to a threat of a boycott by 65 lakh Central Employees in the upcoming 2024 elections. The press conference concluded with the appointment of Assistant Commandant Ashok Kumar as the new Chairman of the Ex. Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association. The event was attended by other office bearers, including Harbans Lal (Vice President), Noor Muhammad (General Secretary), Yash Paul, Kirtan Singh, Harvinder Kour, and Lovely Pandita, signifying a united front in their pursuit of justice and equity for retired Paramilitary Forces. |
