Kishtwar, Oct 20: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kishtwar, SKUAST Jammu, has taken a proactive step in advancing sustainable agriculture practices through a one-day training program tailored for agriculture officers and extension personnel of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in Kishtwar district. Conducted under the able guidance of Dr. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu, the program aimed to equip 40 officers and extension personnel with essential knowledge in extension techniques to promote sustainable agriculture development in the region. Dr. Narinder Paul, In-charge of KVK Kishtwar, effectively organized and led the event. Key figures such as Ahmjad Hussain Malik, Chief Agriculture Officer Kishtwar, Jamshed Hussain, Dev, Khalid Zargar, SMSs SDL, Sahil Gandotra, SDAO Paddar, Manzoor Ahmad Zargar, SDAO Marwah, Honish Jamwal, Ajay Sharma, SMSs SDL, and Ampy Singh, AEO Bounjwan, also participated, showcasing the collective commitment to agricultural growth in Kishtwar. During the program, Dr. Narinder Paul addressed various extension methodologies and proven techniques for on-field extension and the implementation of agricultural and farmer welfare programs. He emphasized the importance of using need-based and location-specific strategies for extension programs, ensuring their effectiveness in various contexts. Ahmjad Hussain Malik, the Chief Agriculture Officer of Kishtwar, encouraged participants to utilize scientific extension techniques in the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes launched by the government. The program concluded with an interactive session where participants had the opportunity to discuss and seek clarification on their queries. Additionally, Dr. Narinder Paul, Head of KVK Kishtwar, collaborated with Amjad Hussain Malik, Chief Agriculture Officer of the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kishtwar, to organize method demonstrations for farmers in the Pranzil, Sigdi, and Nagseni areas. These demonstrations aimed to impart essential knowledge and skills to farmers for the scientific management of paddy diseases that often affect crops in Kishtwar district. Farmers were educated about the various diseases that pose significant threats to paddy crops in the region. They received hands-on training in calculating the appropriate doses of agro-chemicals for their specific fields and preparing homogeneous solutions. Practical guidance was provided on the application of these solutions to the crops using knapsack sprayers and agrochemicals. The farmers were also given the necessary tools and equipment to effectively manage diseases that can impact paddy crops. The program received active participation from numerous farmers in the region, reflecting a strong commitment to promoting sustainable farming practices in Kishtwar. This initiative serves as a vital step towards ensuring improved agricultural productivity and the overall well-being of the local farming community. |
