Police pay tributes to martyrs on commemoration day at Samba | | | Early Times Report SAMBA, Oct 21: Samba Police organized an impressive Police Commemoration Day Parade at the District Police Lines (DPL) in Samba on October 23, 2023. The event drew numerous dignitaries, including representatives from various agencies, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), social activists, families of martyrs, former Ministers, and legislators. During the ceremony, attendees paid their respects to the brave police and paramilitary personnel who had laid down their lives in the line of duty for the nation over the past year, spanning from September 1, 2022, to August 31, 2023. The emotionally charged event featured solemn music, songs, and ceremonial salutes, underscoring the significance of honoring these heroes. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba, Benam Tosh, presided over the event, taking the salute and reading out the names of the fallen heroes. He highlighted the resolute spirit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, commending their role as the first responders who have consistently provided a robust response to terrorism and other challenges in the region. SSP Tosh emphasized that the terrorism challenge had strengthened the Jammu and Kashmir Police, turning them into a formidable force. He expressed confidence that with the support of sister agencies, they would continue to effectively combat terrorism and eliminate residual militancy. He paid tribute to the martyrs, acknowledging their supreme sacrifices for the nation. Police Commemoration Day, also known as National Police Day, is observed on October 21 every year. It serves as an occasion to honor the memory of those who have sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. Similar ceremonies take place at the state, union territory, provincial, and district headquarters to pay homage to the martyrs.
