10/22/2023 12:18:44 AM
Early Times Report
SAMBA, Oct 21: In a commendable display of prompt police action, the Samba Police have successfully resolved a robbery case within 24 hours, leading to the arrest of three suspects in the jurisdiction of the Vijaypur Police Station.
The three arrested individuals were identified as Kunal Tegi, son of Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Bantalab in Samba; Sahil Kumar, son of Raj Kumar, hailing from Budhwani in Samba; and Ajeet Kumar, son of Pritam Chand, also from Budhwani in Samba. Notably, Kunal Tegi and Sahil Kumar were already known to the police, having been involved in numerous previous thefts and extortion cases in Samba district.
The case unfolded when a resident of Pathankot lodged a complaint at the Vijaypur Police Station, reporting that he had been abducted and robbed by two assailants. According to his account, he was traveling from Pathankot to Ramgarh when he was intercepted in Vijaypur. At that point, he was forcibly taken and robbed of his mobile phone and cash by the perpetrators, who brandished a sharp-edged weapon. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police registered a case (FIR No. 45/2023) under sections 341, 364, and 392 of the Indian Penal Code.
The investigation, led by a police team consisting of SHO Police Station Vijaypur, Sandeep Charak, and PSI Sohil Muneer, took place under the supervision of SDPO Vijaypur, Rohit Kumar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. The team successfully apprehended the suspects and also recovered the stolen items. The investigation is still ongoing, and further developments are anticipated.
Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh, has praised the police force for its quick and effective response to cases of robbery, decoity, and extortion in the Samba district. He emphasized the commitment to resolving cases in a time-bound manner and without undue delay.
