Kavinder Gupta supports changing 'India' to 'Bharat' in NCERT books | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 25: Kavinder Gupta, a senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, has thrown his weight behind the proposal made by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) panel to replace 'India' with 'Bharat' in the next set of printed books. Gupta believes that 'Bharat' better represents the rich and vibrant history and culture of the country, while the term 'India' has connotations of colonial rule and subjugation. The proposal was put forth by one of the 25 panels working on changing or modifying the content of NCERT books. While it has been accepted by a smaller committee, it is still awaiting final approval. Gupta welcomes this move as he believes it will rectify the British colonial legacy of renaming the country from 'Bharat' to 'India.' He sees 'Bharat' as a name that embodies the nation's greatness, a name that resonates with its golden past and vibrant history. He expresses confidence that the final committee responsible for approving the proposal will recognize its significance in instilling a sense of pride and confidence among the people. Kavinder Gupta firmly supports the idea of adopting the name 'Bharat' and sees it as a positive step towards reaffirming the nation's cultural identity and heritage. |
