Jammu, Oct 25: A police naka party, led by In-charge PP Sidhra PSI Arun Kumar, conducted a checkpoint operation under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Dysp Aakash Kohli and SHO Nagrota Insp Vishav Partap Singh at Tawi bridge Sidhra.
During the operation at around 0200 hours, the team noticed a man and a woman carrying plastic bags who seemed to be behaving suspiciously. When the police officials stopped them and questioned them, they identified themselves as Gurmail Singh S/O Dalmir Singh from Jaspal Amritsar and Muskan w/o Mohd Arif from H.No 15 Khabbapura, Tehsil Neoria, District Pildhit, UP.
Upon inspecting the plastic bags carried by the suspects, the police discovered 7 kg of poppy straw in Gurmail Singh’s possession and another 7 kg of poppy straw-like substance in the bag belonging to Muskan. In total, 14 kg of poppy straw was seized from both individuals.
The police have taken cognizance of the matter, and a case, FIR No. 439/2023 under Sections 08/15 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at P/S Nagrota. The investigation is ongoing. |
