JAMMU, Nov 15: National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, conveyed shock, anguish, and profound grief following the tragic mishap that occurred at Trungal, Assar on the Batote-Kishtwar road, claiming nearly 35 lives and leaving several others injured. Expressing heartfelt condolences, Sadhotra extended his sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones, praying for peace to the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured. In response to the tragedy, Ajay Sadhotra urged the immediate release of ex-gratia to the next of kin of the deceased. He also emphasized the need for specialized treatment of the injured at government expenses, along with appropriate compensation for their suffering. Sadhotra called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident, particularly considering reports of overlapping in the ill-fated passenger vehicle. He highlighted the necessity of understanding the lapses in traffic management, especially on highways, questioning the alertness of those responsible for ensuring road safety. Expressing serious concern about the frequent occurrence of road accidents on national highways and peripheral roads in Jammu and Kashmir, Sadhotra urged the administration not to remain a mute spectator. He emphasized the importance of establishing an effective road safety mechanism, including enhanced vehicle checks, ensuring fitness of vehicles, and the establishment of trauma hospitals at vulnerable spots along the highways. |
