Srinagar, Nov 16: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) led by former J&K chief minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday reminded National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah about the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association scam and the mysterious death of NC worker Haji Mohammad Yousuf at his residence when he was the J&K chief minister. Pertinently, Yousuf’s controversial death, during his questioning at the Chief Minister’s residential office on September 29, 2011, had led to a storm in the mainstream political camp as his family members and several opposition parties levelled allegations of “custodial killing” against the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his confidantes. In a statement a DPAP spokesperson said, “Can Omar answer for the cricket scam, the mysterious death of their worker Haji Mohd Yousuf Shah, and the use of POTA, PSA, TADA, and Task Force to silence Kashmiris?” The spokesperson went on to question the achievements of the National Conference, emphasizing that “even after tying knots with BJP for the lust of power, they failed to make their cadre public-friendly over the last 70 years.” Offering a piece of advice to Omar Abdullah and others, he said “it is very easy to talk very tall, but it’s very cumbersome to come up to the expectations of common masses.” |
