Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 17: Under the visionary leadership of Principal Dr. Meeru Abrol, Govt. College for Women, Bhagwati Nagar, orchestrated a series of engaging activities to mark Constitution Day. Themed 'My Constitution My Pride,' the event aimed at enlightening students on various pertinent topics, including Anti-ragging Laws, Child Rights, The Right to Education, Environmental Laws, India's Freedom Movement, Fundamental Duties, Dr. B R Ambedkar's Life, and Women's Rights. The festivities commenced with an impactful lecture on Anti-ragging laws by Dr. Preeti Salathia, urging students to understand and promote a safe educational environment. Prof. Gagan Jyoti, Head of the Department of Commerce, provided insights into the POSCO Act 2012, emphasizing the importance of child protection and awareness. Addressing the crucial aspect of Child Rights, Prof. Nisha Bhagat, from the Department of Sociology, discussed Article 21a and the Right to free and compulsory elementary education for children in the 6-14 years age group. Lect. Vandana Sharma, from the Department of Political Science, further delved into the Right to Education, contributing to students' comprehensive understanding of their rights. The academic feast continued with a seminar on the 'Life of Dr. B R Ambedkar,' organized by Prof. Anju Bala, HOD Department of English. Students showcased their knowledge and admiration for Dr. Ambedkar's life and legacy. Adding a creative touch to the celebrations, Mr. Mehmood Ahmad, Lecturer in the Department of Commerce, conducted an essay writing competition on 'Women's Rights.' Students passionately explored innovative ideas and solutions to address the challenges faced by women in various spheres, promoting the vision of gender equality. The Constitution Day celebrations at Govt.
