Early Times Report SUNDERBANI, Nov 17: The NSS Unit and Road Safety Club of Government Degree College, Sunderbani, in collaboration with the Handicraft Service Centre, Jammu, recently organized a two-day Crafts Demonstration cum Awareness Programme as part of the District Level Gandhi Crafts and Weaves Mahaotsav. The initiative, held under the dynamic leadership of Principal Dr. KK Sharma, aimed to promote traditional crafts and create awareness about their significance. The program commenced with a keynote address by Ambika Sambyal, Sr. Assistant Director, who highlighted the importance of the event. Dr. KK Sharma, in his welcome address, emphasized the role of handicrafts in generating capital. He provided insights into the rich handicraft heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, with a focus on the unique hand art prevalent in District Rajouri. Anirudh Kapil, Assistant Director, shed light on the business aspect of handicrafts, emphasizing their contribution to employment generation with low capital investment. Resource persons from the handloom industry, including Arvind Kumar, Sushma Devi, Suman Balla, Bindu Ahuja, and Rashpal, demonstrated their crafts and shared success stories, captivating the interest of the attending students. The organizing team, comprising Prof. Beant Singh, Prof. Sheraz Kousser, Prof. Sham Lal, Rafiq Ahmed, Prof. Rabinder Kumar, Dr. Ishaq, Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman, Neha Sharma, and Nishu, played a crucial role in coordinating the program.
