AGENCIES SHIMLA, Nov 17: Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Pratap Shukla, served as the Chief Guest at the State Level Painting Competition organized by SJVN for schools in Himachal Pradesh. Nand Lal Sharma, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN, and Geeta Kapur, Director (Personnel), along with senior officers, welcomed the Governor at SJVN Corporate Headquarters, Shimla. Nand Lal Sharma highlighted SJVN's role as the Nodal agency for Himachal Pradesh under the National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation, partnering effectively with the Ministry of Power, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, State Government, State Education Department, and other entities. Over 20 lakh students have participated in the School Level Painting Competition since 2005, and this year, 1,57,500 students from 2,852 schools in 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh participated at the school level. In recognition, SJVN introduced 10 additional consolation prizes in the State Level Painting Competition this year. The Governor presented prizes for Group A (Class 5th, 6th & 7th) and Group B (Class 8th, 9th & 10th), including First, Second, and Third Prizes, along with Consolation Prizes. He commended the collective efforts in promoting energy conservation awareness and congratulated students for their artistic talent. Participants received mementos and a participation amount of Rs 2000/- each. In the final phase, the top three winners from both categories advanced to the National Level Painting Competition under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India. The National competition offers significant cash prizes for both categories. During the event, the Governor also inaugurated three new Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) as part of SJVN's Corporate Social Responsibility initiative 'Satluj Sanjeevani Sewa.' These MMUs will provide free medical services to the public living around project areas. SJVN has been operating free doorstep medical care through MMUs since 2012, benefiting over 12 lakh patients in various projects across Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Maharashtra." |
