Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 18: In a significant stride towards modernizing law enforcement, a 5-day training course on the "Use of Space Applications in Policing, Including Drone Technology, Interception, and Investigation" concluded today at the Jammu and Kashmir Police Academy. The course, which commenced on November 14, 2023, saw the participation of 20 officers from different wings of the J&K Police. The comprehensive curriculum covered a range of topics essential for contemporary policing, including a general overview of satellites, orbits, remote sensing, GIS, GPS and communication, crime mapping tools, methods for predictive crimes, communication equipment, mobile phones, algorithms, model-based drone detection, machine learning-based drone detection, drone technology, interception and investigation, and futuristic technologies. Eminent guest speakers from prestigious institutions such as IIT Jammu, Jammu University, SMVDU Katra, and faculty from Cyber Police Station Jammu were invited to share their extensive knowledge and experience with the participants, enriching the learning experience. A valediction function organized at the Academy marked the successful conclusion of the course. Sheikh Zulfkar Azad, JKPS, SSP, and Dy. Director (Admn.) SKPA, graced the occasion as the chief guest. During his address, Azad emphasized the pivotal role of technology in today's world, highlighting its impact on individual growth and national development. Sheikh Zulfkar Azad also expressed optimism about the revolutionary impact of drone technology in policing. He noted that the deployment of drones would enhance the police force's capabilities in conducting search and rescue operations, as well as monitoring large crowds and events efficiently.
