Training program on social defence transgender issues, begins at SKPA | | | Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, Nov 21: A three-day UT Level Training Program on Social Defence, covering topics such as transgender persons, beggary, and drug abuse, commenced at the SK Police Academy (SKPA) in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. The program, aimed at enhancing the skills of 35 officers from the Jammu & Kashmir Police, is focused on improving the quality and standards of services for vulnerable groups in need of special and legal care. The primary objective of the course is to build knowledge on social issues, familiarize participants with the provisions of social services, and provide exposure to field situations. The training also seeks to encourage innovation in the field of social defence. An inaugural function marked the commencement of the training program at the SK Police Academy, with Sh. Rajinder Kumar Gupta IPS, SSP, Deputy Director SKPA, serving as the chief guest. Shri Gupta welcomed all the participants on behalf of the Director SKPA. In his inaugural address, Shri Gupta addressed various social defence issues, including those related to transgender individuals, beggary, drug abuse, and the care of the elderly. He emphasized the participants' crucial role in promoting justice, citizen well-being, and efforts for lasting societal safety, with the ultimate goal of building a safer and more inclusive society for all. The coordination of the course is being overseen by Shri Vishal Manhas, Inspector, with assistance from ASI Rajinder Singh at SKPA. The training program reflects the commitment of law enforcement agencies to address and tackle social issues effectively, contributing to the creation of a more just and secure society. |
