JKNPP protests alleged BJP patronage of corrupt politicians, brands it “Washing machine of corruption”
11/26/2023 10:45:16 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 26: In a bold demonstration against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), a sizable gathering of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) staged a massive protest in Jammu, symbolically torching what they dubbed as the “BJP’s Washing Machine.” The opposition party accused the BJP of harboring corrupt politicians and even aligning with individuals having anti-national and subversive tendencies solely for political gain.
Led by President and Former Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh, JKNPP activists rallied with slogans condemning the BJP’s alleged association with corruption, support for terrorism, and collusion with investigative agencies like the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Dev Singh criticized the BJP, asserting that opposition leaders faced severe scrutiny and legal action for merely opposing government policies, while the BJP allegedly provided immunity to its own members involved in corrupt and criminal activities. Singh highlighted the controversial concept of the “washing machine” metaphor, describing it as a means through which corrupt leaders joining the BJP were seemingly absolved of their past misdeeds and granted clean chits.
Singh went on to claim that the BJP not only welcomed corrupt politicians from other parties but had also allegedly embraced proclaimed offenders, militants, and subversives into its ranks. He cited instances of a militant commander named Talib Hussain being granted a prominent position in the party and the recent apprehension of LET terrorists allegedly associated with the BJP.
Accusing the BJP of engaging with anti-national elements and criminal figures to regain political footing, Singh expressed confidence that the electorate had seen through the party’s facade and was prepared to hold it accountable in upcoming elections.
The protest signals growing political tensions and raises questions about the BJP’s strategies in Jammu and Kashmir, as the NPP intensifies its criticism of alleged corruption within the ruling party.
