After Omar’s jibe, PDP terms NC ‘power hungry’ | ‘In Jan 2015 NC leaders held series of meetings with BJP policy makers in Delhi’s 5-star hotel’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 26: A day after former J&K chief minister and National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah stated that Peoples Democratic Party’s intransigence led to Jammu and Kashmir losing its special status, PDP termed NC as ‘power hungry party.’ Talking to reporters in North Kashmir on Saturday Omar said that had the PDP accepted unconditional support of NC following the 2014 Assembly elections, the situation would have been entirely different. “Decision of 2019 could have been averted had the PDP accepted our support to keep the BJP away from corridors of power, Unfortunate tie-up cost the entire region its unique Constitutional position, pushing its people to wall,” he said. “It is a bitter truth that August 5, 2019 would not have been possible if the National Conference had not been weakened.” Reacting to Omar’s statement, senior PDP leader and former MLC, Firdous Tak wrote on X: “In Jan 2015, a series of meetings were held with BJP policy makers in a 5-star hotel in Delhi. Former intel bosses and top media friends were used to broker a deal. PDP was projected as a frontal organization of Jamaat and detrimental to national security. Power was the sole objective.” An observer while talking to Early Times said, “The blame game between PDP and NC is a clear indication that both the parties have said goodbye to the alliance in 2019. The so-called Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) which was formed by the Kashmir based parties to get Article 370 back seems to have been given a silent burial. It exists only on papers.” He said that both NC and PDP are a part of I.N.D.I.A. alliance but “it appears that both the parties have decided to tread on their own paths and have no meeting point.” |
