Kashmir: People unconcerned about verdict on Art 370, political parties get cold response | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 10: Desperately trying to rake up sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the issue of Article 370 politicians of the Kashmir-centric parties are worried as there is no response of people regarding Supreme Court’s verdict on petitions filed against August 5, 2019 decision of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. Except workers of some political parties, the majority of the people in Jammu and Kashmir are doing their normal work because residents of the J&K have realized that articles 370 and 35-A are “history-now”.Highly placed sources said that some Kashmir-centric parties have asked workers to mobilize people on the issue of Article 370 and bifurcation of the erstwhile state of J&K into two Union Territories (UT) but workers were shocked due to the cold-shoulder response of the people. “Most of the people are not over enthusiastic over Supreme Court’s verdict on Monday because during live hearings in the Apex Court on the petitions they have realized that chances of the restoration of Article 370 is impossible”, sources said and added that due to cold-shoulder response of the people Kashmir-centric parties are worried. Meanwhile, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti said that the actions of the Jammu & Kashmir administration hint towards the Supreme Court passing a verdict on petitions related to Article 370 of the Constitution, which might be against the interest of the country. “We are witnessing that lists containing the names of the workers of different parties, especially the PDP, are being taken through police stations and it seems that such a decision is to come which is not in favour of this country and Jammu and Kashmir, but only to further the BJP’s agenda and hence, some precautionary measures are being taken, which is unfortunate,” Mufti said. |
