DC Kathua reviews implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, Dec 12: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas, led a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the progress and implementation of the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Scheme in the district. The meeting was aimed to ensure effective execution of the scheme and to address any challenges faced in the process of its implementation. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, a visionary initiative by the government, focuses on fostering skill development and promoting entrepreneurship among artisans, craftsmen, and traditional workers. Under the scheme, wide ranging measures are undertaken to provide training, financial support, and market linkages to empower skilled workers and boost the growth of traditional industries associated with 18 different trades. Speaking at the meeting, the DC said that this initiative is set to empower and provide invaluable support to the artisans and craftspeople, commonly known as Vishwakarma, who form a vital part of the informal or unorganized sector of the economy. Taking cognizance of the poor registration of Vishwakarmas in the district, the DC called upon the need to rope in BDOs, CDPOs and EO MCs to increase the number of registrations ensuring no eligible is left out. While discussing the bottlenecks, the DC exhorted the District Coordinator, CSC to adopt people friendly and hassle free registration mechanism to facilitate the marginalized community of Vishwakarmas. He also directed all stakeholders to submit action taken reports regularly for constant monitoring and evaluation. The DC further underscored the importance of conducting sensitization and awareness camps to ensure that every eligible artisan and craftsman reaps the benefits of this transformative scheme. |
