Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 17: In a heartwarming celebration heralding the Christmas spirit, St. Mary's Garrison Church in Jammu resonated with the enchanting melodies of a Christmas Carols Competition organized by the Diocese. The event, featuring 12 choirs from schools and churches, not only showcased musical prowess but also paid tribute to the late Fr. Raphael Jeykumar, creating a platform filled with joy and festive anticipation. Fr. Suhail Joseph, in his welcome address, highlighted the importance of carols in conveying the joyous news of Jesus's birth. Fr. Sebastian Velankanni paid heartfelt tributes to Fr. Raphael Jeykumar, in whose memory the annual event is organized, adding a poignant layer to the festive celebration. Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira delivered a powerful message, describing Jesus as the prince of peace and emphasizing the purpose of his birth. Christmas was declared a potent symbol of God's unconditional love, and a fervent prayer was offered for the well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, invoking peace and joy in the region. The event drew luminaries, civil society members, and the Christian community from nearby churches, enhancing the communal spirit of the celebration. A panel of esteemed judges, including Jasmeet Kaur, Vishal Sadhotra, and Dennis Khokhar, assessed the spirited competition, leading to awards presented by Bishop Ivan to the winning schools and churches.
