Can’t leave all LS seats in Kashmir: Cong leaders tell Rajni Patil | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 17: While the National Conference has already started the campaign for three Lok Sabha seats for Kashmir, Congress leaders have made it clear to their party leadership that leaving all seats of Kashmir for coalition partners would prove disastrous for the party in the next assembly polls. Highly placed sources said that during the meeting with AICC incharge J&K Rajni Patil, most of the Kashmir-based leaders emphasized contesting maximum Lok Sabha seats of J&K to further strengthen the party’s base in both the regions of the Union Territory. “Kashmir-based leaders told Rajni Patil that apart from two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province, Congress must contest on one Parliamentary seat of Kashmir Valley leave the remaining two for coalition partners”, sources said and added that Valley-based Congress leaders want to contest newly carved Anantnag-Poonch Lok Sabha seats. As reported earlier, most of the National Conference leaders have suggested contesting all three Lok Sabha seats. The NC leadership is not ready to leave any Parliamentary seat for any party in Kashmir Valley because in 2019 party had won all three seats from the Valley. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections the National Conference had won all three Parliamentary seats of Kashmir Valley and Congress was runner-up in two Lok Sabha seats of Jammu province. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the National Conference and PDP fought against each other on three seats of Kashmir Valley but both the parties left two seats of Jammu province for Congress. |
